| The 700-year-old Bellver Castle dominates the city of Palma and its circular groundplan is a unique example of Gothic military architecture. Bellver means "bella vista" or "beautiful view". Indeed, the view of the sea and Palma - the capital of the Baleares - from the castle is quite magnificent. Bellver originally served as the summer residence for the Majorcan Monarchy, it later became a prison. |
